  As we had previously promised to our Masvingo Footballers Trust (Maft) Junior Academy that we will be providing new training stuff to them, this weekend we paid them a visit and delivered soccer balls and bibs. Maft board members attended the academy Saturday training session where we handed over 10 soccer balls and three sets of bibs for three age groups. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Maft board chairperson Clayton Shereni said the organization is targeting to take the youths off the streets and help nurture raw talent in the province. These days’ youths are now defined by drug abuse and illicit activities. It is therefore our mission that we keep them occupied and provide a platform where they can showcase their talent. Masvingo Footballers Trust (MAFT) has a vibrant Junior Academy which has over 70 youngsters under the tutelage of veteran defender and former Dynamos captain, George Magariro who has been coaching the kids for over a year now.  We have different age groups namely; Under 9, Under 13, Under 15, Under 17, and Under 19.  Our Academy also strives to give a chance to the girl child and so far we have recruited five girls. Many of our academy players are part of school teams dotted around the whole province and have been exceptional for their schools.  

  Sports Reporter Philanthropic work by sport-oriented Masvingo Footballers Trust (MAFT) continues to grow in leaps and bounces as the Trust recently visited three families in Masvingo where they made cash donations aimed at cushioning the families who are facing different challenges currently. On Saturday, August 29, 2020, some of the MAFT board members paid a courtesy to the family of the former Chapungu football club (FC), Don Bosco FC, and Masvingo United FC player Edmore Ngara who is facing financial challenges arising from his ailing wife’s medical bills. Ngara who was affectionately known as Mbalo during his playing days received US$46 from MAFT after he had failed to source funds to buy some medical supplies needed for his wife.
