We promised, We delivered

 

As we had previously promised to our Masvingo Footballers Trust (Maft) Junior Academy that we will be providing new training stuff to them, this weekend we paid them a visit and delivered soccer balls and bibs.

Maft board members attended the academy Saturday training session where we handed over 10 soccer balls and three sets of bibs for three age groups.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Maft board chairperson Clayton Shereni said the organization is targeting to take the youths off the streets and help nurture raw talent in the province.

These days’ youths are now defined by drug abuse and illicit activities. It is therefore our mission that we keep them occupied and provide a platform where they can showcase their talent. Masvingo has been known for producing superb players and it is our wish that the next Ovidy Karuru comes from this academy,” said Shereni.

Academy coach, George Magariro also gave a piece of advice on the need to concentrate in school and remove the tag of bad behavior which always hangs on top of footballers.

“My everyday advice is that as young footballers and future stars you should learn to strike a balance between school stuff and football. You should also shun drug abuse for you to have a bright career. I want to produce players who are level headed and will take up the challenge to play for the national team and premiership clubs” said Magariro.

Maft is also organizing for the youngsters to take part in junior football tourneys once authorities give a green light to the lower leagues.
